Phlox do no actually make very good cut flowers; their longevity is brief. However, the recent deluges bent low all of the stalks along the perimeter of the phlox bed and two days of dry sunny encouragement could not bring most to recover. Therefore, I have to cull back the edge and why let them go to waste, right? They are beautiful to look at, but here's something more--they have sent out their honey warm arome into the entire room to the point of near palpability. You can feel the scent on your skin! No wonder swallowtails are helpless against their allure.
