UPS: WTF!?

All the poor, tired, overworked, underpaid, Schmoe would have had to do was place the cardboard box inside the storm door....

Part of the box remained frozen to my stoop.

Breakfast: Eggs Bearnaise

I know.  It's Egg's Benedict with Hollandaise Sauce.  Is it?  Does it always have to be?  I had some left over Bearnaise Sauce and then because even when I make this with the traditional Hollandaise Sauce I break the rules, I dressed my English Muffins thusly:

  • Muffin
  • Tomato wedge
  • Baby Spinach
  • Canadian Bacon
  • Poached Egg
  • Bearnaise Sauce
It's your breakfast.  Take a chance!

A Revelation: White Borscht

Made this soup off of a recipe featured in the New York Times Cooking section.  I don't have words.  It was Divine!

Romeo's nose knows a thing most scrumptious when he smells it--alas, no soup for you, my love!

My Nativity

Decided to forego putting up my Holiday Tree this year, then I rediscovered the container with my creche.  I made this at a little local ceramics shop back in 1977 as a sophomore in High School.  It was near to the start of my exploration of Christianity--and also a time when I was wanting to explore anything creative.  The whole thing has help up pretty well over the past 43 years!

A Total Comfort Food: Pasta Puttanesca

The ingredients are simple: Tomatoes, Capers, Kalamata Olives, Anchovy, Garlic, Red Pepper flakes topped with some Italian Parsley. (and Parmesan Cheese, if you like)  I've made meatballs from Sweet Italian Sausage to got with it, but you'd never need to.  It's a simple, wonderful meal all on it's own.  The names translates to "Prostitute Pasta"--it was a meal for the working girls.  Don't be a prude--it's a meal worthy of any professional!

Maryland Zoo: December 20: African Penguins

Not as in love with snow as you might think.  African Penguins belong to a genera of four species known as Spheniscus.  All inhabit temperate regions of the southern hemisphere.

There are over 90 Penguins in our colony.  Each one has a name.  Darned if I know any of them!  I can tell which ones are male or female, and I can spot the adolescent younger birds (as well as, the really old ones--African Penguins can live to be 25 in captivity).

Maryland Zoo: December 20: Panamanian Golden Frogs
