Canadian Embassy

Washington, DC has its iconic buildings: The US Capitol, The White House, Lincoln's Memorial, etc.  But they don't really encompass the range of wonderful architecture to be found in the National Capital of the United States.  Having just shared some images of the National Museum of the American Indian is just one example of the amazing, even thrilling, design that is part of this city.  Another would definitely be the Canadian Embassy.  A stunning mixture of edifice meets sculpture. While some elements strike a pose in the most classic of all forms, others seem to defy both gravity and meaning.  The grand plaza of the inner court seems to represent a forum for the open exchange of ideas and a sanctuary celebrating democratic ideals.  I love this place.

Across the plaza is a magnificent sculpture of 14 mythological creatures rowing an ocean canoe.
