President's Day Trip to the Zoo: African Journey #2

Further down the path on the African Journey I encountered the Common Warthogs, the Cheetahs and the Crested African Porcupines.
Kumari is the zoo's female Warthog and she is known as site the baby mama.  In her years at the Maryland Zoo, she has produced three litters of 3 or 4 piglets.  Her last litter was in 2015 and produced 3 piglets.  At the age of 13, she is no longer being bred.  In September, she was joined by a younger male, Hodor, who arrived from the Detroit Zoo.  Hodor is planned to be her companion for now.  At some point he may be joined by a younger female for the purpose of breeding.
The zoo is home to a pair of male Cheetahs.  Brothers who are being held at the zoo for the foreseeable future.  They come from a rich genetic lineage and are not needed now for the SSP for Cheetahs.  Of all of the Species Survival Plan protocols, the one for cheetahs is among the most successful.  Refu and Wgasa were born at the San Diego Wildlife Park in July of 2014 and came to the Maryland Zoo in May of 2016.
