Maryland Zoo: A Day in the Life, part 1

Great day of volunteering.  The Maryland Zoo is a wonderful place to volunteer at.  They give volunteers a lot of support and show us a lot of appreciation.  It was "Wild about Bears" day.  I spent the first half of my shift in the Polar Bear Watch Tundra Buggy.  It divides the two bear yards.  In one are our Polar Bears and in the other are our Grizzly Bears.  All of the bears of female.  The Grizzlies are sisters who were orphaned by an act of senseless cruelty in Montana back in 2016.  The Polar Bears are step-sisters born at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio around the same time.  Today was also a carcass feeding day.  A local butcher donates a cow carcass that they quarter.  Each bear gets a quarter to consume.
