Gardening Oddity

I have this little strip of ground between the walkway to the back stoop/deck and the back exterior stairwell to the basement.  I'm in the process of getting anemone to grow there to rid me of any need to plant anything there.  On the way, I have planted pineapple sage, too.  You are looking at the combined foliage of 4 pineapple sage plants!  Placed there in May when they were barely six inches tall, they are literally reaching beyond six feet now.  But they do not bloom!  They never bloom, well, not until the very last possible moment and often so late they are felled by the first frost.  Strange, eh?
