Walters Art Museum: European Decorative Arts

Continuing through the galleries on that side of the ground floor of the original building and you have European Decorative Arts.  The collection includes lots of ceramics, vessels, statuary, some jewelry, a few paintings and a couple of pieces of inlaid furniture.  Here are some of the items that caught my fancy.

Ceremonial Cup c. 1720
Johann Melchior Dinglinger (German)
1664-1731

The description of this piece and its contents was so fascinating that I am including it with the cabinet.

Pair of Woodpeckers c. 1760
Derby Ceramics Factory (English)

The Toilet of Madame 1775
(French)

I loved this one so much, I'm including a could of details.  I do enjoy narrative forms of art.

Fire Screen 1700
Jacques Vigoureux Duplessis (French)
active 1700-1730

Bonheur de Jour (Lady's Desk) c. 1770
Maurice Bernard Evalde (French)
dates unknown

And I detail of the exquisite wood inlay from Madame's desk.
