Cape May County Zoo - NJ: part 5 of 5 (from July 9)

Returning to the eastern portion of the zoo, it was just a question of following the pathway on around the southern sweep of the zoo.  Habitats for Wallabies, Bears, Snow Leopards, small mammals and a small herpetarium are all located along this route.  The first habitat you encounter is that of the Black Bear with an inhabitant that has got to be one of the largest Black Bears I have ever seen.

 Bennett's Wallaby

A little joey had a time of it keeping up with momma, but he wasn't about to give up.

The Herpetarium is a nice moderately sized structure with dozens of habitats for reptiles and amphibians

Mata Mata Turtles from Amazonia.

 Bumblebee Poison Dart Frog

 A group of Rat Snakes

 undistinguished Desert Tortoises

Outside the exit is a long habitat for larger tortoises

Aldabra Tortoises

The second Snow Leopard habitat is larger than the first and Snow Leopards were present in this one.

Among the smaller animals were also North American Porcupine, Patagonian Cavy and Gray Fox.  All in all a lovely zoo.
