The Dogwood Collection

The day was so beautiful that after leaving the Conifer Collections at the National Arboretum Romeo and I visited the Dogwood Collection.  There is a lovely circle garden near the entrance with a range of seasonal perennials and roses.  Leading down a slope from there at a good distance is a fountain.  There are benches located around the edges.  It's one of my favorite places for picnics.

Walking Among the Conifers, part 5

We completed this part of our visit by tracing the clusters of trees along the road edge of the collection.  This included a little pond at the spot were a stand of bald cypress were growing.  Across the way there were even some amazingly old River Birch, a personal favorite of mine.

Walking Among the Conifers, part 4

Entering back into the collection, we explored the heart of it.  So many different conifers, but also Japanese maples and crepe myrtles.
